Have you lost motivation because of Covid?

I know how you feel. It’s ok. This last couple years was definitely rough for everyone around the world. This experience we went through together was perspective-changing to say the least. From what I have seen, there became quite a noticeable change in people. Either people used the pandemic as fuel to rev their engines and make huge positive changes in their life or the pandemic became a reason to let life let their feelings envelope them and keep them from making any movements. Whether externally or internally, everyone has felt this wave in some way.

In the grand scheme of history, this isn’t a novel experience for humans. I would take an educated guess to say that in any given lifespan, people have experienced something this jarring that was out of their control. How it was dealt with and how those people pivoted their lives to adapt to or be engrossed by those experiences are now stories that we can learn from. Each and every single person has a chance now to make a difference in how their future unfolds that they wouldn’t otherwise have had. What’s the story you want to remember?

Don’t despair. A happy life is ahead of you. I promise. Life will be what you make of it. May you have the serenity to accept the things you cannot change, courage to change the things you can, and wisdom to know the difference. It’s your life. How do you want to live it? Go live it that way. If you have blocks along the way that you can’t figure out on your own, get in touch with me. I help people change their lives everyday.

I was thinking the other day how one of the reasons I must be so good at my work is because I have always been so insightful and attentive to my feelings and thoughts. What I can tell you from my experience in my life and in my work is that slowing your life down and letting your feelings make you do things you don’t want to is a bad choice. Nothing is permanent. Not feelings, not school, not work, not friends, none of it.

Feelings are just information to be listened to. If you can’t hear your feelings, then go through the motions of life that you need to to keep moving forward. Your feelings will speak to you when they are ready. If they are not ready to speak to you, tell your feelings that you are ready to listen when they’re ready to speak up.

In the meantime, they need you to get mobilized and do things so they have opportunities to present themselves and express your inner world to you. That’s how you will get to know yourself. The more you get to know yourself, the calmer your feelings will be. You will feel chaotic inside if you don’t know who you are. If you don’t go to school, work, socialize, etc., you are not letting yourself be alive and your feelings are getting stuck inside you. They are just stewing and building stronger and stronger defenses that keep you more immobilized. You will inevitably get caught in a cycle that feeds on itself. Go be. Go live life and you will get out of the cycle.

As always, if you need anyone to talk to, reach out to someone you trust and respect, or contact me. I’m always here and happy to help my clients launch into an awesome future.
